ABOUT ME

ABOUT ME

Charlotte Bell is a freelance writer based in Aotearoa, working at the intersection of storytelling and strategy. With a Master of Writing with Distinction from the University of Canterbury and a BSc in Microbiology and Geography, she brings both creativity and analytical precision to every brief.

Charlotte specialises in essays, travel writing, and cultural critique, crafting narratives that are sharp, emotionally resonant, and grounded in lived experience. Her writing—centred around themes of identity, recovery, place, and reinvention—has found a loyal audience on her Substack, Trainwrecks, which explores what it means to begin again after loss, addiction, grief or transformation. She is currently pitching her debut book, A Year Out, a collection of essays exploring rupture and recovery.

Alongside her editorial work, Charlotte partners with brands and publications to deliver compelling content across platforms—from web copy and email marketing to social media and digital campaigns. She writes for The Asia Collective and Hungry in Bali, producing travel guides and lifestyle content that speaks to modern audiences with clarity and style.

Charlotte’s voice is equal parts precise and poetic, and her work is underpinned by a deep understanding of narrative, audience, and intention. She’s currently seeking new collaborations—whether that’s writing long-form editorial features or helping brands find the words that truly connect.

Let’s work together.
